Rod Stewart And Cyndi Lauper

In 2017, Sir Rod Stewart and Cyndi Lauper teamed up for an unforgettable live performance of “This Old Heart Of Mine” during a Florida show. The song, originally from Stewart’s 1975 album “Atlantic Crossing,” was chosen by Lauper herself, surprising fans as she joined him on stage.

Sir Rod, dressed in a silver showbiz jacket, and Cyndi, in a stylish rose red outfit with a glitzy black hat and pink hair, brought their timeless star power to the stage. Despite Cyndi being 64 and Sir Rod being 72 at the time, their voices and dance moves were as vibrant as ever.

Sir Rod Stewart, born in London, rose to fame in the latter half of the 20th century with hit singles like “Reason To Believe/Maggie May” and albums such as “Every Picture Tells A Story” and “A Night On The Town.”

Cyndi Lauper, an American singer-songwriter, gained fame in the mid-80s with hits like “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” and “Time After Time.” She continued her success into the next century, composing music for the hit musical “Kinky Boots.”

Before their duet, Cyndi shared the backstory of their cover, reminiscing about singing Rod’s songs in her cover band. This performance was a special moment for her as her early career came full circle.

This wasn’t the first time Cyndi and Rod shared the stage. They’ve been friends since the 1980s, performing together at various events and even touring together three times.

While their collaboration on “This Old Heart Of Mine” has gained over 10 million views on YouTube, the song itself is not a Rod Stewart original. It was first performed by The Isley Brothers in 1966 and later covered by Rod in 1975 and 1989, featuring a duet with Ronald Isley.
