Avril Lavigne may be the “motherf–king princess” of pop-punk, but her choice in cover during the Jacksonville, Fla., stop of her Greatest Hits Tour on June 23 has fans itching for a country album.

The “Keep Holding On” songstress has been mixing things up on the sold-out trek across North America, alternating between covers and throwbacks of her own during a brief acoustic set. Most recently, she played “one of [her] favorite bands” The Chicks‘ “Wide Open Spaces,” and fans think it’s high time for another genre shift for the artist who already has seven albums under her belt spanning pop, punk and rock.

A fan named Ashleyuploaded a video of Lavigne’s “breathtaking” cover to TikTok following the show, including the introduction where Lavigne, 40, revealed that she once covered the same song while performing during one of her high school assemblies.

Fans immediately fell in love with her rendition of the 1998 song, which one called a “perfect” performance of “one of the best Chicks songs ever.”

“Unreal!!!” someone else applauded.

“😭🥺🖤🖤 she is so good,” another gushed, with Ashley replying to agree, “sooooo good. breathtaking!”

“We need a country album from her,” someone else crossed their fingers, with another looking for easter eggs in the performance: “I honestly think she is hinting at it. I so hope so!”
