First premiering in June 2006, America’s Got Talent quickly set itself apart from shows like American Idol by showcasing talents beyond just singing. Now celebrating its 20th season, the show recently welcomed rock legends Def Leppard for a special guest performance that electrified the stage. Bringing a dose of 80s rock energy, the band performed their iconic hit “Pour Some Sugar On Me.”

Before launching into the song, host Terry Crews asked lead singer Joe Elliott what advice he would give to aspiring artists. His message was simple but powerful: “Live your dream.” It was a fitting reminder, given that when the track first appeared on their 1987 album Hysteria, no one could have predicted the global success it would achieve — eventually landing a spot on VH1’s list of the 100 Greatest Songs of the 80s.

As for the performance itself, Def Leppard proved once again why they remain one of rock’s most enduring bands. Fans quickly praised the group online, with the video already surpassing 55,000 views. One viewer wrote: “This performance from a bunch of guys in their mid-60s was better than any of the singing acts this year.” Another highlighted drummer Rick Allen’s resilience, saying: “Mad respect to the drummer. The fact that he still plays the drums with one arm is insane.”

Def Leppard’s Upcoming Las Vegas Residency

Outside of their AGT appearance, the band is preparing for their new Las Vegas residency, Def Leppard Live at Caesars Palace. The residency marks their return to Sin City and promises a carefully curated setlist. Joe Elliott teased fans with their performance formula: “We’ve kind of grown into a routine of what we like to call the A, B and C list. And your A list is your crown jewels, the ones that if you don’t play them, you wouldn’t get out of the building alive. Then there’s the B list of interesting stuff. And then the C list is, like, ‘Oh, that’s interesting. They haven’t played that one in 40 years.’”

With their AGT performance and upcoming residency, Def Leppard continues to prove that rock and roll not only endures but thrives across generations. Their energy, passion, and commitment to fans both old and new are a testament to why they remain legends in the music world.
