In one of the most electrifying announcements of the year, punk rock pioneer Iggy Pop and rock legends The Rolling Stones have confirmed they are joining forces for a brand-new collaborative album. The record, titled “Black Leather Sun”, is set to drop on October 18, 2025, and promises to be a raw, high-energy celebration of rock ‘n’ roll rebellion.

The unexpected team-up between the Godfather of Punk and the architects of modern rock has already sent shockwaves across the music industry. While both Iggy Pop and The Rolling Stones have worked with a vast array of musicians over their decades-long careers, this marks their first full-length project together.

In a joint press release issued by Universal Music, Iggy Pop said,

“This is the dirty rock record I’ve always wanted to make—and who better to do it with than the Stones? We got together, we turned it up, and we didn’t look back.”

Mick Jagger, speaking about the collaboration, added,

“Iggy’s fire and unpredictability were the perfect match for what we wanted to do. This album is loud, loose, and completely unapologetic. It’s not about nostalgia—it’s about now.”

Recording for Black Leather Sun began in early 2025 at the iconic Electric Lady Studios in New York and wrapped up at La Fabrique Studio in France. The album is expected to feature ten original tracks co-written by Pop and Jagger, with contributions from Keith RichardsRonnie Wood, and Charlie Watts’ archival drum recordings on select songs—honoring the late drummer’s legacy.

Tracks such as “Chemical Sunday,” “Lipstick Wounds,” and the lead single “Snake in the Velvet” have already been teased by insiders as gritty, guitar-heavy cuts blending the Stones’ blues-driven swagger with Iggy Pop’s snarling vocals and punk intensity.

Critics and fans alike are eagerly anticipating the record, which many see as a rare moment of rock royalty uniting across genres and generations.

To promote the album, a limited European stadium tour titled “The Black Leather Tour” is scheduled for early 2026, with dates in London, Paris, Berlin, and Rome. Tickets are expected to go on sale in August.

With both acts continuing to defy age and expectation, Black Leather Sun could very well become a defining moment for 21st-century rock music—a fierce reminder that the true spirit of rebellion never fades.
