{"id":11640,"date":"2025-08-03T18:20:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-03T10:20:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/artgardenhub.com\/?p=11640"},"modified":"2025-08-03T18:20:15","modified_gmt":"2025-08-03T10:20:15","slug":"osbourne-family-eminems-silent-tribute-heartbreaking-united-front-at-ozzys-funeral-as-sharon-kids-louis-mourn-with-eminem-watching-from-afar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artgardenhub.com\/?p=11640","title":{"rendered":"OSBOURNE FAMILY &#038; EMINEM\u2019S SILENT TRIBUTE: HEARTBREAKING UNITED FRONT AT OZZY\u2019S FUNERAL AS SHARON, KIDS &#038; LOUIS MOURN \u2013 WITH EMINEM WATCHING FROM AFAR"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ozzy Osbourne&#039;s wife and children attend farewell parade ahead of funeral\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iW9TchthHCI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ozzy Osbourne\u2018s family were today united in grief as they joined tens of thousands of tearful Black Sabbath fans at an emotional funeral procession in the late singer\u2019s home city of&nbsp;Birmingham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Family, friends and devoted fans have gathered for a parade through the city centre to pay their respects to the heavy metal icon who died aged 76 last week \u2013 two weeks after he performed for the final time at Villa Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ozzy\u2019s beloved widow,&nbsp;Sharon Osbourne, broke down in tears as she was overcome by the sea of flowers and tributes left for her late husband, whom she was married to for over four decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2025\/07\/30\/11\/100762817-14953701-image-a-73_1753872719921.jpg\" alt=\"Fans have been seen waiting patiently on the streets of England's second city to pay tribute\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As she funeral cortege arrived at the iconic Black Sabbath Bridge, Sharon stepped out of the car and was flanked by their children, Jack and Kelly, who held her up as she burst into tears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following closely behind was the couple\u2019s third child, their rarely seen daughter Aimee, and Ozzy\u2019s son Louis from his first marriage to Thelma Riley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But his daughter, Jessica, and adopted son, Elliot, whom he shared with Thelma did not appear to be in attendance, having also not been mentioned in the family\u2019s touching statement announcing Ozzy\u2019s death on July 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At Black Sabbath Bridge, Sharon and the family \u2013 which included all of Ozzy\u2019s many grandchildren \u2013 laid flowers as the crowd chanted \u2018Ozzy, Ozzy\u2019. The Osbournes spent time looking at the heartbreaking tributes before raising their hands in a peace sign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They spent around five minutes at the bridge before returning to the cars and moving on with the procession. Flowers were thrown onto the funeral cars as the cortege moved down Broad Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Huge crowds began gathering along the route hours in advance of the 1pm start,&nbsp;to pay their respects towards the singer whose songs included Paranoid and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thousands of people were pictured taking their places not only on Black Sabbath Bridge but along the city centre route along which his cortege would travel&nbsp;towards the Black Sabbath Bridge bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The hearse carrying the singer\u2019s coffin passed the star\u2019s childhood home in Lodge Road, Aston, at about 12.45pm on its route into Birmingham city centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2025\/07\/30\/11\/100762815-14953701-image-a-72_1753872679654.jpg\" alt=\"The tributes come just weeks after Ozzy Osbourne's last gig, in his home city Birmingham\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Flowers were placed outside the terraced property, close to Villa Park, since the singer\u2019s death, while the owners of the house put up a picture of Osbourne in the front bay window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Jaguar hearse and six Mercedes funeral cars, accompanied by police motorcycle riders and a police car, drove slowly along the street watched by a handful of fans and the current owner of the house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fans have left heartfelt messages and floral tributes around the Black Sabbath mural on Navigation Street in recent days to honour the heavy metal star who was born in the Aston area of Birmingham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Members of the public have also signed a book of condolences, opened by Birmingham Museum And Art Gallery, which is currently holding an exhibition titled Ozzy Osbourne (1948-2025): Working Class Hero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2025\/07\/30\/10\/100760805-14953701-image-a-54_1753868793417.jpg\" alt=\"People congregating wore T-shirts honouring Black Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While organising the procession, Birmingham City Council collaborated with the Osbourne family, who funded all of the associated costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One Black Sabbath fan gathering along Broad Street, giving the name of Goose, told today of&nbsp;discovering heavy metal as a teenager and feeling uplifted by Ozzy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They said: \u2018That\u2019s when I found, like millions of people around the world, that there was music that was for us, something that understood us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018We knew that there was somebody out there that felt the way that we did and it was a constant presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018Ozzy helped give that to the world. He was a family member. He felt like a family member to so many people and he touched so many people\u2019s lives.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2025\/07\/30\/10\/100760203-14953701-image-a-34_1753867553376.jpg\" alt=\"Black Sabbath Bridge in Birmingham has been awash with memorial messages and displays\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fellow fan&nbsp;fan Evie Mayo said the heavy metal star had inspired her and everyone in Birmingham, as she waited by the Black Sabbath Bridge for his cortege to arrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She told the PA news agency: \u2018I think he was so influential, he was such an inspirational person. I think he really impacted everyone here, especially in Birmingham as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018Now that he\u2019s not here any more, you can feel the impact of it. He inspired a lot of people and he was a great person.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She added: \u201cHe inspired me by, I love his music, absolutely love his music. I\u2019m learning guitar so that I can learn some of his songs.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Birmingham-based musicians Alicia Gardener-Trejo and Aaron Diaz were also there, performing songs by Ozzy and Black Sabbath, with Alicia telling BBC News of being \u2018super-excited\u2019 to be involved amid today\u2019s commemorations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said: \u2018It\u2019s a huge honour to be playing the music of Ozzy and Black Sabbath today. I\u2019m a huge fan. I\u2019m pretty speechless. Growing up, listening to Ozzy \u2013 it\u2019s huge to be part of this.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aaron said: \u2018Ozzy and Black Sabbath\u2019s music really represents something about Birmingham \u2013 there\u2019s grit there, there\u2019s heaviness, but there\u2019s also humour and there\u2019s a sort of humility in it as well.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2025\/07\/30\/14\/100764759-14954919-Emotional_tributes_are_being_paid_in_Birmingham_to_heavy_metal_l-a-26_1753880849722.jpg\" alt=\"Emotional tributes are being paid in Birmingham to heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lee Clarke and his mother Tracey travelled 200 miles from Plymouth to get to Birmingham for today\u2019s event, boarding a sleeper train overnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He&nbsp;told BBC Radio WM: \u2018I decided long ago, when it happened I would go \u2013 thought we\u2019d get more notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018Its pretty hard to be a metalhead and not like Ozzy Osbourne \u2013 all the other music, the other bands, they wouldn\u2019t exist if it wasn\u2019t for him.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tracey told of becoming a fan over the past decade due to her son\u2019s influence and said of their arrival today to join the crowds: \u2018It\u2019s just feel the need to be here and show the family how loved Ozzy was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018I\u2019m sure they know, but it\u2019s just somewhere I felt I wanted to be today. He was an ordinary man \u2013 an extraordinary, ordinary man.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, 10-year-old Eliza turned up bearing an umbrella with model bats attached, as well as a sign saying: \u2018Goodnight Ozzy \u2013 Birmingham forever.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eliza, accompanied by her mother and grandmother, said: \u2018Ozzy is a local lad, a boy from Aston, and he\u2019s allowed kids like me to dream big \u2013 Ozzy is Birmingham.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her mother Claire Finn-O\u2019Shea described Birmingham as \u2018a city in mourning\u2019, adding: \u2018We love what Ozzy did for the city. We love that he stuck to his roots. I&nbsp;feel like we will get upset today when we see the coffin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It feels like it\u2019s a big deal, and it\u2019s so generous of the family to bring him home to Birmingham \u2013 because for the fans to be involved, that\u2019s a massive thing.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham Zafar Iqbal said: \u2018Ozzy was more than a music legend \u2013 he was a son of Birmingham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018Having recently been awarded the Freedom of the City and following his celebrated appearance at the Back to the Beginning concert at Villa Park earlier this month, it was important to the city that we support a fitting, dignified tribute ahead of a private family funeral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2025\/07\/30\/14\/100768183-14954919-image-a-38_1753881883609.jpg\" alt=\"Jack and Kelly embrace one another (left) as Sharon (centre) and Aimee\u00a0 (next to Sharon) break down in tears at the procession\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018We know how much this moment will mean to his fans. We\u2019re proud to host it here with his loving family in the place where it all began, and we are grateful that they have generously offered to pay to enable this to happen and support the city is giving him the farewell he deserves.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Broad Street has been closed to through traffic from 7am today, with buses and trams diverted before the road packed with bars reopens when the event finishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Osbourne and his Black Sabbath bandmates \u2013 Terence \u2018Geezer\u2019 Butler, Tony Iommi and Bill Ward \u2013 were recently given the freedom of the city of Birmingham, which recognises people\u2019s exceptional service to the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They are expected to attend, while other reported celebrity guests at events to commemorate Ozzy&nbsp;include Sir Elton John.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group, which formed in 1968, are widely credited with defining and popularising the sound of heavy metal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Osbourne, who also had a successful solo career, found a new legion of fans when he appeared in the noughties reality TV series The Osbournes,&nbsp;starring alongside his wife Sharon and two youngest children, Kelly and Jack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The music star, who was diagnosed with Parkinson\u2019s disease in 2019, performed his last gig on July 5 in a concert that also saw performances from the likes of Anthrax, Metallica and Guns N\u2019 Roses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ozzy&nbsp;took to the stage for his farewell concert at Villa Park stadium&nbsp;in his native Birmingham less than three weeks before his death \u2013 reuniting&nbsp;with his original Black Sabbath bandmates for the first time since 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than 42,000 fans packed into the venue for the Back To The Beginning show, during which he&nbsp;told the crowd in his final speech: \u2018You\u2019ve no idea how I feel \u2013 thank you from the bottom of my heart.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A message on screen then read: \u2018Thank you for everything, you guys are f***ing amazing. Birmingham Forever,\u2019 before the sky lit up with fireworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He had told of it being his last performance due to his health, having opened up about his battle with Parkinson\u2019s in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement shared last Tuesday, Ozzy\u2019s family&nbsp;said he died \u2018surrounded by love\u2019, adding:&nbsp;\u2018It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He is survived by his wife Sharon and his five children Jessica, Louis, Aimee, Kelly and Jack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2025\/07\/30\/14\/100549303-14954919-Ozzy_Osbourne_is_survived_by_his_six_children_following_his_deat-a-29_1753881215763.jpg\" alt=\"Ozzy Osbourne is survived by his six children following his death aged 76 on Tuesday (Ozzy pictured with kids Louis left and Jessica right in 1978)\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Daily Mail revealed last Wednesday that an air ambulance was called to Osbourne\u2019s grand country home as paramedics battled to save his life for two hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Friends told the Mail\u2019s Alison Boshoff that his heartbroken wife Sharon&nbsp;was considering now burying Ozzy in the gardens of the 350-acre estate&nbsp;in an intimate family funeral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ozzy was born John Michael Osbourne in Birmingham in 1948, and dropped out of school at the age of 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After serving two months in prison for burglary, he decided to pursue his love of music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By 1970, Black Sabbath \u2013 originally going by the name of Earth \u2013 had gained a huge following in the US and UK with the release of their first album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ozzy quit the band in 1978 and four years later divorced his first wife Thelma amid his ongoing substance abuse problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He went on to marry second wife Sharon, who helped him transform into a successful solo artist and the couple had three children together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ozzy gained a whole new audience of fans with the family\u2019s reality TV show The Osbournes in 2001.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He spoke in 2011 about how he imagined his future send-off, telling the&nbsp;Times: \u2018I honestly don\u2019t care what they play at my funeral \u2013 they can put on a medley of Justin Bieber, Susan Boyle and \u201cWe Are The Diddymen\u201d if it makes \u2019em happy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2025\/07\/30\/13\/100764971-14953701-image-a-85_1753877057765.jpg\" alt=\"Tearful tributes have been shared to Ozzy Osbourne as his funeral parade takes place today\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018But I do want to make sure it\u2019s a celebration, not a mope-fest. I\u2019d also like some pranks: maybe the sound of knocking inside the coffin, or a video of me asking my doctor for a second opinion on his diagnosis of \u201cdeath\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018There\u2019ll be no harping on the bad times. It\u2019s worth remembering that a lot of people see nothing but misery their whole lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018So by any measure, most of us in this country \u2013 especially rock stars like me \u2013 are very lucky.
