Bunnie Xo, who tied the knot with country singer Jelly Roll in 2016, reacted to online critics who called her marriage \u201cfake\u201d after a notable kiss at the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bunnie Xo<\/strong>\u00a0is hopping ahead of the haters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nearly three weeks after sharing a light kiss with husband\u00a0Jelly Roll<\/strong>\u00a0on the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards red carpet, the 45-year-old defended her\u00a0decade-long marriage\u00a0by calling out critics who claim the couple have a \u201cfake love.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey\u2019re like, \u2018She\u2019s not really with him. That was a fake kiss. This is fake love. Ew. Can you believe the way she kissed him?\u2019\u201d Bunnie (real name\u00a0Alyssa DeFord<\/strong>) said in a clip from her\u00a0Dumb Blonde\u00a0<\/em>podcast shared to\u00a0TikTok\u00a0May 23. \u201cIf I lingered on his lips longer than 10 seconds, you guys would be like, \u2018Oh, she\u2019s still a whore. Get a room. This is disgusting. This is a family award show.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plus, Bunnie\u2014who is stepmom to Jelly Roll\u2019s kids\u00a0Bailee<\/strong>, 17, and son\u00a0Noah<\/strong>, 8\u2014doesn\u2019t want her glam to get on her husband\u2019s face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have lip gloss on. I have an entire face [of makeup],\u201d she continued. \u201cMy husband has to continue taking pictures after that kiss. So, does he want a freaking lip liner and gloss all over his face? No.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bunnie also noted that she and Jelly Roll (real name\u00a0Jason Bradley DeFord<\/strong>) have built friendships with the photographers on the red carpet, who often ask them to kiss while posing for photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey don\u2019t do that with any other couple,\u201d she shared. \u201cAnd I don\u2019t mind. I love our photographers that are our friends. They always get a great picture. And so, if they want us to kiss, we\u2019ll kiss.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added, \u201cI don\u2019t mind kissing my husband, but I\u2019m not gonna lock lips with him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond avoiding any makeup mishaps, Bunnie admitted that she and Jelly Roll are mindful of the impact of their public image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Bunnie isn\u2019t the only one who has been open about the strength of her love for her partner. In fact, Jelly Roll has gushed about knowing his wife is the one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bunnie was in an unhealthy relationship, she continued, and Jelly Roll was doing his own thing. But in October 2015, they reconnected. And as Bunnie put it, she was \u201cjust smitten.\u201dAfter her ex went to prison, she added, she told a friend to give Jelly Roll her phone number. Bunnie said the musician would call and text her for advice on his daughter\u00a0Bailee<\/strong>\u00a0from a previous relationship.However, Bunnie noted her bond with Jelly Roll shifted from platonic to romantic in July 2016 when he returned to Vegas to film some videos and they slept together.\u201cWe\u2019re like s\u2013t-faced drunk,\u201d she remembered. \u201cI\u2019m trying to get it up, get it in, get it on and get it out, and this guy was like, \u2018What\u2019s your five-year plan?\u2019\u201dSo, they discussed their goals, and Bunnie recalled Jelly Roll saying, \u201cOK, cool. Wedding DayAnd they did.\u201cWe got married a month later,\u201d Bunnie added on\u00a0Bussin\u2019 With The Boys,\u00a0<\/em>sharing she wed Jelly Roll at Las Vegas\u2019 Stained Glass Wedding Chapel in August 2016, \u201cand f\u2013kin we did the five-year plan. Literally finished it all the way through to the fifth year. The last thing was buying our own house.\u201dAnother one of Bunnie\u2019s goals was to launch her own podcast.\u201cWhen she came out of the sex working industry, I\u2019m sitting down with her and I\u2019m like, \u2018Well, what are you passionate about?\u2019 Jelly Roll said on\u00a0The Howard Stern\u00a0<\/strong>Show\u00a0<\/em>in June 2024. \u201cShe\u2019s like, \u2018I\u2019d love to do some kind of a talk show.\u2019\u201dBunnie left the sex work industry in 2019 and debuted the\u00a0Dumb Blonde<\/em>\u00a0podcast later that year. Jelly Roll\u2019s daughter Bailee was born in 2008.At the time, he was in prison for drug dealing.\u201cMy daughter saved my life,\u201d Jelly Roll said in his 2023 documentary\u00a0Jelly Roll: Save Me.<\/em>\u00a0\u201cShe wasn\u2019t old enough to even know it.\u201dBailee said in the doc her dad entered her life when she was 2, when he was in the early stages of his music career and living in his van.
