Julian Lennon is celebrating his \u201cuncle\u201d Paul!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, June 18, Julian, 61, \u2014 the son of Beatles legend John Lennon and his first wife Cynthia \u2014 marked Paul McCartney\u2019s 82nd birthday with a special message on X (formerly known as Twitter).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHoppy Birdy, Uncle Paul! Only love\u2026 Jude x,\u201d Julian\u2019s caption read as he shared a video montage of himself as a child with McCartney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Played alongside The Beatles\u2019 classic \u201cHey Jude,\u201d the first photo featured a younger McCartney sitting beside Julian on the grass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pair were then pictured walking together before the video switched to a snap of them playing on the shoreline by the sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The video finished with a photo of McCartney carrying a little Julian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAwww. Hey Jude. I\u2019m crying,\u201d one person commented, while another added, \u201cBeautiful tribute to Paul, Julian.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in March, McCartney confirmed in an episode of Paul McCartney: A Life in Lyrics<\/em> on iHeartRadio, <\/em>that Julian inspired \u201cHey Jude.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This came after Julian\u2019s parents announced their divorce due to John\u2019s relationship with his second wife Yoko Ono.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was traveling one day to see <\/strong>Julian Lennon and his mother Cynthia and I used to call him Jules,\u201d McCartney said. \u201cSo the song started off as I was in the car driving out, which was a 45-minute drive out of central London. People had sort of suggested, \u2018Oh, I fancied Cynthia\u2019 but people can suggest anything. I didn\u2019t. I was just going out, just as a friend. Just to sort of see them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Beatles frontman then explained that he wanted the song to be encouraging for Julian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo in my mind I\u2019m thinking \u2018Hey Jules\u2019 you know, \u2018don\u2019t make it bad.\u2019 You know, I know this is tough for you but \u2018take a sad song and make it better.\u2019 Your dad\u2019s just left you so I was like, trying to be encouraging,\u201d the musician added. \u201dIt was an encouraging song. Remember to let love into your heart and it will make it better.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Explaining how he changed the direction of the song from someone being afraid of something \u201clike a divorce,\u201d McCartney added, \u201cSo then I start going \u2018you were made to go out and get her.\u2019 Now there is a woman arrived on the scene so now he\u2019s sad about a breakup. So \u2018remember to let her under your skin and then you begin to make it better.\u2019 \u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n
