Together, they look like the perfect all-American couple, but there\u2019s never been any actual romance between Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell. The\u00a0Euphoria<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Hit Man<\/a>\u00a0stars have had rumors swirling since their\u00a0rom-com<\/a>\u00a0hit the big screen, but now, things have taken a turn.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Why? Newly single Sweeney has called off her engagement to fianc\u00e9 Jonathan Davino, with the internet swooping in to hope their dreams come true. As luck would have it, a few clues have pointed in their favor.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

But what is actually going on, and do the Sweeney and Powell dating rumors have any truth?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell were spotted together at a restaurant in Dallas just days after the engagement breakup, but\u00a0according to Powell\u2019s mom, there\u2019s no truth to the rumors.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cThey\u2019re definitely not together. It was just, like, she was there [at the wedding] with her friend,\u201d Cyndy Powell\u00a0told<\/a>\u00a0The Daily Mail, adding Sweeney is \u201creally close friends\u201d with the extended Powell family.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Sweeney was in Dallas to attend the wedding of Glen\u2019s sister Leslie, bringing her best friend as her plus one.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Powell\u2019s mom added the rumors are \u201csilly\u201d and there is \u201cdefinitely nothing going on behind closed doors.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cHe\u2019s the kindest person and he is so others-oriented. He loves his family, he loves his friends. And Sydney is a friend,\u201d she said. \u201cThey\u2019ve been friends for so long. They\u2019ve known each other for so long and they\u2019ve both been single and together and with other people.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cThey could have made anything happen that they wanted to at any point. But he\u2019s got so many friends that care about him and he cares about, and he\u2019s got a really nice group of friends that they kind of take care of each other. It\u2019s really nice.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Initial rumors started back in 2023<\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Around the time Anyone But You was released,\u00a0the pair were embroiled in a cheating scandal, essentially alleging Sweeney was cheating on Davino with Powell.<\/strong>\u00a0Speculation died down in 2024, with the pair later joking about headlines on an episode of Saturday Night Live.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

But how did rumors even start? As always, it wasn\u2019t down to a single reason. There was no denying the pair\u2019s on-screen chemistry seemed to work just as well in regular life, starting the flames that would eventually become full-on rumors.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

2023 also saw Powell go through a mysterious breakup with ex-girlfriend Gigi Paris, with the pair quietly unfollowing each other on Instagram. \u201cKnow your worth & onto the next,\u201d Paris\u00a0wrote<\/a>\u00a0in a post caption.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Then came Sydney\u2019s time to host SNL in March 2024. She addressed rumors in her opening monologue, explaining the \u201ccraziest rumor\u201d about her life. \u201cThat\u2019s obviously not true,\u201d she began, adding, \u201cMe and my fianc\u00e9 produced the movie together and he was there the entire shoot, and I just want to let everyone know that he\u2019s the man of my dreams and we\u2019re still together and stronger than ever.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

She then asked SNL to pan to Davino in the audience, but Powell was there in his place. Sweeney assured fans that her fianc\u00e9 was \u201cin my dressing room!\u201d Later in a skit, Sweeney\u2019s character admits to cheating on her boyfriend in a restaurant, telling him, \u201cI cheated on you with my boss and I think we should break up.\u201d Powell then appears to leave with his \u201cbaby cakes.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Obviously, a lot has changed since then.\u00a0Sweeney has called off her wedding and ended her seven year relationship with Davino<\/strong>, who also served as a producer on Anyone But You.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

According to People, the reason for the split is so Sweeney can focus on her work, with a source\u00a0explaining<\/a>\u00a0she is \u201cin the middle of this magical career that she could only dream of a few years ago,\u201d adding, \u201cThis is what she wants to focus on right now.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cShe\u2019s exactly where she wants to be. Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd. She\u2019s all about working right now and very excited about all her projects. What did make her overwhelmed, though, was her relationship and her wedding. She didn\u2019t feel right about it,\u201d the source also said.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Davino and Sweeney were first linked in 2018, getting engaged back in 2022. \u201cShe\u2019s not ready to settle down,\u201d the source added. \u201cThey only lasted for this long because it was hard for her to break it off. They didn\u2019t split because there is no love. They split because she just wants to focus on her career right now.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cEveryone is always so curious about who I\u2019m with and what\u2019s that like, but I think it\u2019s important to have something for me,\u201d Sweeney\u00a0told<\/a>\u00a0Glamour UK in December 2023 about having a private life.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
