Seger wasn\u2019t just singing Heartache Tonight \u2014 he was carrying the weight of every memory it ever held. For a moment, The Eagles weren\u2019t gone. Glenn was there. The band was whole. And Bob? Just a Detroit kid again, singing not for applause\u2026 but for the friends he still hears in the silence<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bob Seger\u00a0joined the\u00a0Eagles\u00a0to sing \u201cHeartache Tonight\u201d Saturday night at the band\u2019s Classic West gig at Los Angeles\u2019 Dodger Stadium,\u00a0the Eagles\u2018 first full concert since\u00a0the death of Glenn Frey\u00a0in January 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frey\u2019s son Deacon Frey, who the Eagles\u00a0enlisted\u00a0in June to help fill his father\u2019s role for the Classic West show, contributed lead vocals to \u201cTake It Easy,\u201d one of his father\u2019s signature songs, as well as \u201cPeaceful Easy Feeling\u201d and \u201cAlready Gone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to \u201cTake It Easy,\u201d Don Henley told the Dodger Stadium crowd, \u201cThis one\u2019s for you, Glenn. You\u2019re in our hearts tonight and the music goes on,\u201d\u00a0Forbes<\/em>\u00a0reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Country superstar\u00a0Vince Gill\u00a0also performed alongside the Eagles for the Classic West show, a two-night after that will continue Sunday night with Fleetwood Mac. In two weeks, both the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac will head to New York\u2019s Citi Field\u00a0for the Classic East fest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a recent\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/em>\u00a0interview, Gill talked about joining the Eagles, who had a huge impact on his style of country music.
\u201cWe all talk about our history in country music and we respect Merle Haggard and George Jones. And I mean no disrespect when I say this, but the Eagles had a bigger impact in that more people chose to emulate them,\u201d Gill said, adding he was a \u201cgreat fit\u201d for the band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou take any of the bands from the Eighties, Nineties or even solo artists, and you don\u2019t find many of them emulating George Jones or Merle Haggard. I find it interesting in that country music never embraced the Eagles, yet they had as profound an impact as anybody that\u2019s ever been in country music.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gill, appropriately, sang lead vocals on \u201cNew Kid in Town,\u201d as well as \u201cLyin Eyes\u201d and \u201cTake It to the Limit\u201d:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
