They\u2019re rolling back historic civil rights legislation that made this nation more just and plural. They\u2019re abandoning our great allies and siding with dictators against those fighting for their freedom.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As clips of the speech spread like wildfire across social media, Trump fired back on his platform, calling Springsteen&nbsp;<em>\u201cHighly Overrated\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;and labeling him a&nbsp;<em>\u201cpushy, obnoxious JERK\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;with&nbsp;<em>\u201cRadical Left Politics.\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;He ended his rant by calling Joe Biden&nbsp;<em>\u201cmentally incompetent\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>\u201cour WORST EVER President.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the American Federation of Musicians quickly countered Trump\u2019s tirade. In a public statement, they voiced unwavering support for Springsteen and Swift, condemning political intimidation against artists and defending the right to speak truth to power:<br><em>\u201cArtists like Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift represent the best of American values: freedom of expression, courage, and compassion. We stand in complete solidarity with them and with all musicians using their voices to fight for democracy and justice.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an era where speaking out can cost careers, their stand\u2014and that of the union\u2014isn\u2019t just about music.
