The View\u00a0<\/em><\/a>cohost\u00a0Sunny Hostin<\/a>\u00a0is actually\u00a0not<\/em>\u00a0thinking about\u00a0Sabrina Carpenter<\/a>\u2018s me espresso \u2014 and never has, apparently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a small corner of the internet buzzed with blowback to the pop star\u2019s irony-laden\u00a0Man\u2019s Best Friend<\/em>\u00a0album cover<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 which sees her on her knees in front of a man \u2014 the panelists broke down the reaction by lifting the 26-year-old up. That is, except for Hostin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After\u00a0Joy Behar<\/a>\u00a0revealed that she got married years ago in the\u00a0same New York City church Carpenter filmed her \u201cFeather\u201d music video<\/a>\u00a0in, Hostin told the audience she\u2019s unfamiliar with Carpenter in general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ll admit, I don\u2019t know who she is, I\u2019ve never heard of her music,\u201d Hostin said. \u201cI don\u2019t know anything about her.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still, Hostin offered up an opinion on Carpenter\u2019s album cover, which some people felt was the antithesis to the feminist themes in Carpenter\u2019s lyrics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think that imagery is important. And even if her lyrics are strong and she\u2019s a feminist, I just think about young girls seeing that who may not understand,\u201d Hostin observed of Carpenter, who has two Grammys and amassed three top-ten hits \u2014 including the\u00a0No. 1 smash \u201cPlease Please Please\u201d<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 over the last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moderator\u00a0Whoopi Goldberg<\/a>\u00a0broke in to tell her colleagues that the controversy reminded her of a scene from\u00a0This Is Spinal Tap<\/em>, which saw a character complaining about a \u201cgreased, naked woman on all fours with a dog collar around her neck.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goldberg then praised Carpenter, saying, \u201cThe girl is doing her thing, God bless her.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before the segment ended, Joy Behar also compared Carpenter\u2019s cover to provocative works by Madonna and Bette Midler, though she said the latter \u201cwould\u2019ve been pulling his hair\u201d instead of on her knees in front of him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI would\u2019ve bit him,\u201d Goldberg said. \u201cNo, no, if you\u2019re down there, you bite.
