Anita Dobson, the acclaimed actress known for her role in EastEnders<\/em>, has shared her candid thoughts on what it takes to sustain a long-lasting marriage\u2014revealing that there\u2019s \u201cno secret\u201d behind her enduring 25-year union with Queen guitarist Brian May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The couple\u2019s story began in the mid-1980s, when they first met at a film premiere in 1986. Their relationship deepened through creative collaboration when May produced Dobson\u2019s Talking Of Love<\/em> album, released in 1988. After years together, the pair tied the knot on November 18, 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked by Best Magazine<\/em> about the secret to their marital longevity, Dobson, 74, was refreshingly straightforward: \u201cThere is no secret. You either stay together because you want to, or if you don\u2019t like it, you get out. That\u2019s it\u2014stay or go.\u201d She added, \u201cIf you love the man, and it\u2019s worth staying, then stay. That\u2019s it, that\u2019s the bottom line.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The couple recently relocated from London to Surrey following flooding at their home in 2021. While Brian May quickly embraced the countryside lifestyle, Dobson, a self-professed \u201ccity girl born and bred,\u201d admits the transition took more time. \u201cBrian is in clover\u2014he absolutely loves it,\u201d she said. \u201cHe lives more in the garden than he does in the house. He loves the animals, the flowers, the trees, everything. We\u2019ve got a very big garden. For me, it\u2019s been an adjustment\u2026 but when the weather is like this, I wouldn\u2019t want to be anywhere else.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite her city roots, Dobson enjoys occasional visits back to London for \u201ca bit of fun.\u201d Recently, the couple celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary with a special dinner at their \u201cfavourite restaurant in the world,\u201d underscoring the simple joys that help keep their relationship vibrant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brian May\u2019s path to Dobson was not without complications. Previously married to Christine Mullen from 1976 to 1988, May\u2019s relationship with Dobson was a subject of speculation during the late \u201980s. The Queen guitarist alluded to this tumultuous period in his 1989 hit I Want It All<\/em>, which echoes themes of desire and conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflecting on their relationship\u2019s early days, May posted a touching message on social media marking the 34th anniversary of their collaborative track Talking Of Love<\/em>, describing it as \u201ca collaboration born of a love that was to blow both our lives apart.\u201d The 77-year-old rocker also acknowledged the hard work their marriage has demanded: \u201cYou\u2019re not looking at \u2018My Perfect Life\u2019 in these last 3 posts of mine. Anita would agree with me in saying that our marriage needed hard work every day of the week throughout those years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

May offered a heartfelt reminder to fans about the realities of love: \u201cRelationships are not easy, especially since we seldom fall in love \u2018conveniently\u2019 (think Romeo and Juliet!). But just being able to start again every day can go a long way towards keeping it together. And the rewards are many and manifest. So tonight we\u2019re celebrating making it SO FAR!!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
