Snoop and Lawrence were locked in litigation for close to a year over two backing tracks on the 2022 album&nbsp;<em>BODR<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lawrence claimed Snoop did not properly license his backing tracks before using them on the&nbsp;<em>BODR&nbsp;<\/em>songs \u201cPop Pop\u201d and \u201cGet This D\u2013k,\u201d and that the legendary rapper made matters worse by also releasing both songs as NFTs (non-fungible tokens) without his permission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/app.hiphopdx.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Snoop-Dogg-Admits-To-Being-Very-Surprised-By-Diddys-Trial-.jpg?w=1200\" alt=\"Snoop Dogg Admits To Being 'Very Surprised' By Diddy's Trial | HipHopDX\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"title-of-a-story\"><span id=\"\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Snoop, meanwhile, said he had a deal with Lawrence and paid the producer $20,000 before releasing&nbsp;<em>BODR.&nbsp;<\/em>The rapper\u2019s lawyers criticized Lawrence in court papers for seeking a \u201cpreposterous windfall\u201d of millions of dollars through the litigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"trending-on-billboard\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Trending on Billboard<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Snoop and Lawrence\u2019s settlement, reached with the help of a mediator, allows the two men to avoid a costly trial that was scheduled to begin in September. But, even without going to trial, the lawsuit provided a glimpse at industry practices surrounding the use of backing tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/thmb\/4mJ3Ws1jdExRaz1K3fSEmN28vIQ=\/1500x0\/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()\/snoop-dogg-060625-b00ff864db5f4530aee2b0ead9f4280b.jpg\" alt=\"Snoop Dogg biopic to be directed by 'Hustle &amp; Flow' filmmaker Craig Brewer\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Lawrence alleged in his legal complaint that he often creates these instrumentals \u201con spec\u201d and shops them around to prominent artists.
