He\u2019s the breakout star of Netflix\u2019s hit drama Adolescence<\/em>, but Owen Cooper<\/strong> still carries himself like your awkward, lovable mate from across the pond. During a charming and hilariously candid appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon<\/em>, the young British actor revealed what it\u2019s like to receive praise from Leonardo DiCaprio<\/em>, why he can\u2019t bring himself to watch his own work, and why he thinks American snacks are absolutely \u201ctragic.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fresh off the global success of Adolescence<\/em>\u2014the gritty, emotionally charged series that follows the unraveling of youth in a fractured modern world\u2014Owen told Jimmy he still hasn\u2019t fully processed the acclaim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI still feel like a fraud, honestly. Everyone\u2019s like, \u2018You were incredible!\u2019 and I\u2019m like\u2026 are you sure?\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But one fan left him completely speechless: Leonardo DiCaprio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe came up to me at this thing in LA and said, \u2018You did a great job, man.\u2019 And I just froze. I think I said \u2018Cheers, mate\u2019 and then immediately questioned everything I\u2019ve ever done.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Fallon couldn\u2019t contain his shock\u2014\u201cLEONARDO DICAPRIO told you that?!\u201d\u2014to which Owen sheepishly nodded, clearly still processing the surreal moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite rubbing shoulders with Hollywood royalty, Cooper admitted he can\u2019t even bear to watch himself on screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve only seen the first 10 minutes of Adolescence<\/em>. I watched it through my fingers and had to leave the room,\u201d he said. \u201cI hate my voice, my face, all of it. It\u2019s like hearing yourself on voicemail but times a million.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

To lighten the mood, Owen brought along a cheeky gift for Fallon: a bag of British snacks<\/strong>\u2014and plenty of attitude to go with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fallon gamely tried them all, grimaced at the Monster Munch, and declared the Flake \u201cunnecessarily crumbly.\u201d Cooper couldn\u2019t stop laughing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But behind the self-effacing humor and snack-fueled banter is a serious talent. Cooper\u2019s performance in Adolescence<\/em> has been described as \u201craw,\u201d \u201cdisarmingly honest,\u201d and \u201cheartbreaking\u201d\u2014earning him comparisons to a young Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet. When asked what\u2019s next, Owen simply shrugged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know, really. I just want to do stuff that scares me. That makes me feel something. And ideally doesn\u2019t involve me having to watch myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
