Originally released in 1965 by RCA Victor, an American record label home to influential artists like Elvis Presley and Diana Ross, the soundtrack achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the best-selling UK album in 1965, 1966, and 1968.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The enduring success of the Sound of Music wouldn\u2019t be complete without the timeless voice of Julie Andrews, who portrayed Maria Von Trapp. Director Robert Wise exclusively considered Andrews for the role, and her heartwarming performance alongside the Von Trapp children brought to life the true story recounted in the 1949 book, \u201cThe Story of the Trapp Family Singers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/buzzkpop.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/julie-1024x536.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-957\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Dame Julie Andrews, a title bestowed upon her in 2000, boasts an illustrious career with notable roles in \u201cMary Poppins,\u201d earning her the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1964 and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical in 1965.
