It was a moment that many pop stars can only dream of – singing with one of the last surviving members of The Beatles.

Taylor Swift made music history when she joined Sir Paul McCartney on stage to perform one of her songs and one of his at the SNL 40th anniversary after-party at The Plaza Hotel in NYC on Sunday.

The blonde singer, 25, and the rock ‘n roll legend, 72, bridged the gap in ages while rocking out to her Shake It Off in front of an enthusiastic star-studded crowd.

Taylor strummed a mean guitar while Paul played bass, and their voices soared in perfect harmony.

Of course, the hilarious part was Jimmy Fallon, who joined them on stage and bumbled his way through the song while bobbing up and down on his toes.

An energetic Taylor kept the pace moving, showing off her stuff in a light green mini-dress featuring skin-revealing cut-outs at the waist.

Her slender legs was dipping to the beat, and now and then she tossed her blonde bob to cast an appreciative look at Sir Paul who, with Ringo Starr, continues to carry on The Beatles magic.

McCartney looked years younger, and standing next to the youthful Taylor must have made him a lot younger too.

His dark brown tresses were swept across his forehead, and he wore a black suit and white shirt with no tie.

Fallon, 40, was suited up in a dressy dark jacket and trousers with white shirt and tie.

The Tonight Show host just seemed happy to be on stage, although what exactly he was contributing was unclear.

After Shake It Off, Taylor paid back the favour and joined McCartney in a spirited rendition of the classic Beatles tune Saw Her Standing There.

Fallon even tried to harmonize with Taylor, although her voice was certainly the loudest of them all.
