Being a child of one of The Beatles undoubtedly opens plenty of doors when it comes to launching a musical career, but it also brings a lot of raised eyebrows and suspicions.

Now, three of The Beatles’ kids have shrugged off the nepo baby complaints in the best possible way, by joining forces on a storming new single.

Zak Starkey, Ringo Starr’s son, launched his new supergroup Mantra of the Cosmos in 2023.

The group features Happy Mondays stars Shaun Ryder and Ben alongside Ride/Hurricane #1/Oasis/Beady Eye man Andy Bell.

Earlier this year they released the single ‘Domino Bones (Gets Dangerous)’ featuring Noel Gallagher, and they’ve now enlisted a couple more important names for their next track.

Starkey has shared a lengthy clip of new song ‘Rip-Off’ on Instagram, and confirming that the vocals on the track come from Shaun Ryder, James McCartney and Sean Ono Lennon.

James McCartney is the son of Paul McCartney and his first wife Linda, while Sean Ono Lennon is the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono.

Sean and James had previously collaborated on the song ‘Primrose Hill’ together, while there’s long been talk of Sean and Julian Lennon duetting on a song.

And while the song sounds very little like the music their dads made together, Zak hasn’t shied away from the obvious connection, with visuals for the song featuring The Beatles together in their heyday.

Zak Starkey has been in the press a lot recently after he was sacked, rehired and sacked again from The Who in controversial circumstances.

The drummer, who also had a lengthy stint with Oasis in the ’00s but won’t be joining the Gallagher brothers on their upcoming reunion tour, has made several statements about his situation with The Who.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone he revealed that the door still isn’t completely closed to a return to The Who.

According to Starkey, Daltrey has told him: “Don’t take your drums out of the warehouse, we might be calling you.”
