Wolfgang Van Halen Honors Ozzy with "Mama, I'm Coming Home"

A Tribute on Tour

Wolfgang Van Halen and his band Mammoth paid tribute to heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne following the news of his passing. While currently opening for Creed on tour, the band chose to begin their set with a cover of Osbourne’s emotional track “Mama, I’m Coming Home.” The choice reflected their deep respect and connection to the artist.

Just before soundcheck, the band learned about Osbourne’s death. Moved by the news, Van Halen decided a mention wasn’t enough. He told the crowd, “[it] fucking sucks that we are in a world that doesn’t have Ozzy Osbourne anymore. And it was right before we went on soundcheck that we found out. And I thought, ‘Well, we have to do something. Just mentioning it isn’t enough.’”

A Raw and Honest Moment

The band had only rehearsed the song a few times but wanted to honor Ozzy anyway. Van Halen continued, “We’ve played through this maybe three times, so please bear with us and sing the fuck along with us.” What followed was a sincere and emotional version of “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” which many fans in the audience embraced.

Mammoth joins a growing number of artists paying their respects to Osbourne, who left a huge mark on the history of metal. His influence continues to shape the music world.
