Kelly Clarkson took a brief break from her duties as host to perform a track from the upcoming animated film UglyDolls at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas (May 1).

Earlier in the night, Clarkson kicked off the show by showing exactly why she’s well-suited to host a music awards show by delivering a medley of Hot 100 hits from Ella Mai, Cardi B, Florida Georgia Line and many more. But as it neared its end, she returned to the stage in a hot pink floor-length dress to perform a song of her own.

By the song’s powerful end, which included backing vocals and drumming from a children’s musical group, everyone was on there their feet — Chrissy Metz even shed some tears.
