On March 17, 2019, during the final night of the  Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, country music legend George Strait delivered a heartwarming performance that became an instant classic. In front of a record-breaking crowd of 80,108 fans at NRG Stadium, Strait invited his 6-year-old grandson, George Harvey Strait III, affectionately known as Harvey, to join him on stage for a special rendition of “God and Country Music.” Dressed in a blue and white plaid shirt, jeans, and sporting a nervous smile, young Harvey stood beside his grandfather, holding the microphone with both hands. As the song progressed, Harvey joined in for the final chorus, delighting the audience and creating a touching family moment .([Wide Open Country][1], [The Boot][2], [iHeart][3])

“God and Country Music,” written by Luke Laird, Barry Dean, and Lori McKenna, is featured on Strait’s 2019 album “Honky Tonk Time Machine”. Notably, Harvey also contributes vocals to the studio version of the song, marking his debut in the music world 

This memorable duet not only showcased the strong bond between grandfather and grandson but also highlighted the enduring legacy of George Strait’s music, bridging generations and touching the hearts of fans young and old.
