Carrie Underwood’s Lavish Wedding Cost More Than 99% Of Americans Make In A Year
On July 10, 2010, 250 of Carrie Underwood and hockey player Mike Fisher‘s closest friends and family came together to celebrate their everlasting love. The wedding festivities were held at Georgia’s Ritz-Carlton Reynolds Plantation, which they rented out for the entire weekend.
They redecorated the resort for the weekend, replacing the hotel’s rugs and logos with their custom rug that bore a “CM” motif for Carrie and Mike, which could also be seen on the custom room keys, dance floor, and the backs of the chairs at the head table in the ballroom.
The day before the fairytale nuptials, the couple hosted their guests to a quaint welcoming party with Georgia spiced pecans, strawberry shortcake, sweet tea, and fireworks. The wedding featured plenty of vegetarian options for Underwood, including butternut squash, as well as meat dishes like herb roasted filet mignon for meat-eaters like Fisher.
According to PEOPLE, the soft pink lighting in the reception ballroom changed to hot pink once dancing started and each table was decorated with antique toile tablecloths, silver floral charger plates, and lovebird place-card holders.
The gorgeous wedding cake, which featured two round cakes at the top and bottom, and six tiers of cupcakes, was made by close friend Ivey Childers (and wife of Underwood’s bass player), who is responsible for all the creative cakes you see on Underwood’s Instagram, like the one below.https:
After saying “I do” and dancing the night away, Underwood and Fisher left the reception around 2 A.M., even though party-goers stay until after 4 A.M., escaped to a lakeside cottage with wedding cupcakes, hors d’oeuvres, a bed strewn with pink rose petals in the pattern of their “CM” motif, and pink and white candles waiting for them.
The total for their lavish wedding weekend came out to be, according to Southern Living, close to $500,000.
