Vinnie Vincent, a guitarist formerly involved with rock band Kiss, is charging the eye-watering sum of $2 million for his new album, Guitarmaggedon.
As explained on Vincent’s official website, the high price tag will lead to much more than just a usual copy of the album. “The entire album will be offered in master format only for $2,000,000,” the statement begins.
This price tag includes ten songs mixed in master, final product format, all the master files of the artwork, related posters, and ten separate vinyl and CD packaging art for each individual song.
From there, it is down to the buyer as to how they might want to distribute the album, which they now own. “The buyer can choose to release the entire album in any format they desire… vinyl, CD, or any other configuration, in whole or in part, at their discretion,” the website explains.
The high sum doesn’t include any “right, title, or interest in the copyrights and/or trademarks related to Vinnie Vincent or the product itself.” In that instance, “If the buyer wishes to purchase any associated rights in the compositions, a separate agreement can be arranged and negotiated.”
But that’s not all — thrown in with the purchase will be a “perpetual license to use the brand name ‘Vinnie Vincent Invasion’ and ‘Vinnie Vincen’ for the life of the album.”
Should he find no suitable buyer, the musician has another possible means of purchase. Vincent is selling each song for $200,000, under the same conditions as purchasing the entire album would fall under.
Vincent was in Kiss from 1982 to 1984, but he refused to sign an employment contract with the group and never formally became a member of the band; eventually, he left the group after the North American leg of their Lick It Up tour, but would act as a songwriter on their 1992 album, Revenge.
