In 2016, inside a dimly lit karaoke bar somewhere in New Jersey, a group of strangers sang their hearts out to songs that defined decades — “Livin’ On A Prayer,” “It’s My Life,” “You Give Love A Bad Name.” What they didn’t know was that the man wiping glasses behind the bar was no ordinary bartender.

Jon Bon Jovi spent hours in make-up to truly disguise himself for the karaoke prank.

He had the beard. He had the leather vest. He even had the attitude. But hidden beneath the disguise was none other than Jon Bon Jovi — rock royalty, hitmaker, and the reason most of those fans had picked up the mic in the first place.

Dressing up as an old school rocker with long hair, full beard and a leather waistcoat, Jon went undercover as a barman in the karaoke bar who would increasingly get on his punters nerves.

It was all part of a stunt with Omaze to raise money for the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation. And it wasn’t just a quick hello — the rocker spent hours in makeup to completely transform into a gruff, old-school rocker. Then he waited. And watched.

Jon Bon Jovi took off his hat, glasses and moustache to reveal his true identity and the fans started screaming.

When fans began singing his biggest hits — often with wrong lyrics or off-key bravado — the bartender suddenly intervened. Sometimes to correct them. Sometimes to duet. Either way, the moment was strange enough to draw nervous laughs… until the disguise came off.

Hat. Sunglasses. Mustache. Gone.
