Slash recently discussed the significance of Guns N’ Roses’ latest releases. He explained how “Atlas” and “Nothin’” represent the conclusion of a specific chapter for the band, as reported by Loudwire.
The guitarist addressed questions about working on songs that were originally conceived before his return to the band. When asked about the experience of collaborating on pre-existing material, Slash provided insight into the band’s creative process.
“No, I mean, Guns has always been super collaborative. So, at some point after we got back together, with Axl, we talked about this idea of going in and revisiting some of the songs that hadn’t been officially done,” Slash said. “The drums and we had the vocals and we redid all the guitars and the bass. So, it was really fun to sort of write new parts for these pre-existing songs.”
The musician explained how the band approached completing these unfinished tracks over time.
“We did a peace meal like we did a couple songs here and a couple songs there and a couple, you know, and these are actually the last two unreleased pieces was Atlas and Nothing,” he continued. “So, yeah, it’s it’s sort of the end of that and then we’re obviously going towards making a whole new record of original stuff and it’s just been, you know, fun to do.”
These latest releases come at a significant time for the legendary rock band. They prepare for major touring commitments and chart their creative future.
BraveWords reported that the band released “Nothin’” and “Atlas” ahead of their 2026 World Tour. The releases mark their first new music in more than two years. The timing of these releases demonstrates the band’s strategic approach to connecting with fans before embarking on their extensive touring schedule.
Slash emphasized the band’s commitment to creating entirely original material moving forward. “The next record that we’re gonna do is gonna be all new original stuff and that’ll be an actual album,” he stated. He highlighted the distinction between their recent archival work and future creative endeavors.
The historical significance of this moment cannot be understated for a band with such deep roots in rock history. Oreate AI noted that Guns N’ Roses was founded in 1985 in Los Angeles.
