Paul Stanley recently discussed the future of KISS after the band’s retirement from touring. He shared his thoughts in an interview with Rock Of Nations With Dave Kinchen And Shane McEachern.
The KISS frontman emphasized that the band’s journey continues beyond live performances. He highlighted upcoming projects including their highly anticipated avatar show.
“Well, the band continues. Without touring, there’s so much in the pipeline,” Stanley said. “This avatar show that’s going to be in Vegas is gonna blow everybody’s minds.”
Stanley went on to distinguish the upcoming show from other digital performances. He expressed confidence in its quality and impact.
“It’s not like what some people have called holograms and all this kind of experimental and kitschy stuff. This is seeing us,” he continued. “This is as real as I am, and I think it’s gonna just blow people away. And it extends the band that much further.”
The musician also reflected on KISS’s unique position in the rock music landscape.
“There’s no reason for us to live within the boundaries of other rock bands. They live within those boundaries because that’s all they can be,” Stanley explained. “And it’s great, but we are not that — we’re KISS.”
The KISS avatar show is tentatively scheduled to premiere in 2027 in Las Vegas.
Stanley’s comments come as the band continues to develop ambitious plans for their post-touring future. They are building on the success of similar digital entertainment ventures.
Ultimate Classic Rock reported that the avatars are being produced by Swedish company Pophouse Entertainment. This is the same firm behind the successful ABBA Voyage show. The technology requires a custom-built venue and represents a significant investment in cutting-edge digital performance capabilities.
Gene Simmons has been equally enthusiastic about the project’s potential impact. The Buzz noted that Simmons claims the show will surpass the Las Vegas Sphere’s spectacle. He promised to “make that seem like popcorn fart” with multi-sensory effects including fire, heat, and smells.
“He says details will be revealed in ‘under two years’, but it’ll be so mind-blowing that it’ll make the Las Vegas Sphere look like a ‘POPCORN FART’,” Simmons stated. This highlights the band’s confidence in their technological venture.
The avatar show represents just one element of KISS’s broader strategy to extend their brand beyond traditional touring. Ultimate Classic Rock revealed that the band has additional plans including a cartoon show and plans to tour the avatar experience worldwide beyond its initial Las Vegas debut. This ensures KISS maintains a global presence even without live performances.
